Leben auf dem Land
Client: Studio Wu & Goethe Institut China
Creative Direction, Animation & UX Design
Illustrations: Yimeng Wu
An app game from the Goethe Institut China for children, that reveals the importance of the earth and the fascinating connections between animals, insects, and our lives. The beautifully designed illustration by Yimeng Wu brings nature to life and allows young explorers to explore playfully. Where we contributed with the Creative Direction, Animation, and UX design.
The interactivity of the game encourages learning by doing. Each animal and insect species has its role in the ecosystem and children learn how important these creatures are for the balance of nature. Targeted movement animations bring the interaction to life, allowing players to discover the animals' stories and their habitats actively.
The UX design of the game emphasizes a user-friendly and engaging experience. Intuitive controls and clear visual cues help children navigate the environment with ease. Every element of the game, from the animated characters to the interactive objects, has been carefully designed to convey a sense of magic and curiosity.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Ontological Dreams on animation projects since 2020. One project from 2023 was „Leben auf dem Land“ – an interactive action-bound education game for school kids on biodiversity, commissioned by the Goethe Institut in China. Their task was to create short animations based on illustrations of animal and plant characters like bees or a growing meadow which I’ve created. Ontological Dreams brought the characters to life through subtle movements with much care for the details and timing. The results were very enchanting and we’ve received many positive feedbacks from the client and the young users. The work process with Ontological Dreams is very enjoyable: they brought good ideas for the projects through their expertise and dedication to animation and illustration art. They delivered the work on time and are a reliable partner. We’re hoping to work with them on further projects in the future and wish them all the best for their professional path.”
